ELV Systems: CCTV, Access Control & BMS

Building controls and security systems work best when their purpose is clear from the outset. ETES provides ELV design and installation, helping define the required functions and connections for lighting control, access and security applications.

Scope of work.

Intelligent lighting and dimming

Design and install intelligent lighting controls and dimming systems to match customer requirements, equipment specifications and the agreed programme.

Access control and face recognition

Provide access control and face-recognition systems. Define entry points, operating functions and equipment interfaces with the client.

Intruder alarms, CCTV and motion detection

Coordinate intruder alarms, CCTV and motion detection with the security brief. Confirm coverage, device positions and monitoring arrangements.

Alerts and system interfaces

Include SMS paging alerts where required. Coordinate ELV cabling and electrical interfaces, with BMS interface verification and monitoring integration available within an agreed project scope.

Information to prepare.

Share what you have. We can identify the remaining information together.

  • A floor plan with the spaces, entrances and areas that need control or monitoring.
  • Details of existing equipment and the functions you want to retain or add.
  • Your operating procedures, system users and preferred equipment requirements.

Agree the details before work begins.

Use these points to define the proposal, responsibilities and records your team needs. Final deliverables depend on the agreed scope.

  1. Before work

A device and interface schedule identifying the functions included in the proposal.

  2. During delivery

Cabling, power, network and software responsibilities agreed with the relevant teams.

  3. At handover

Functional test records, labelled schedules and configuration handover for the agreed scope.

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Can new ELV equipment connect to an existing system?

Compatibility depends on the existing equipment, supported connections and required functions. Share manufacturer details and system information so the connection options can be reviewed before equipment is selected.

Should lighting controls be planned before choosing fittings?

They should be considered together. The intended control zones, dimming behaviour and compatibility of the fittings and controls all influence the design.

How do we define a useful security system brief?

Describe what needs to be monitored or controlled, who will use the system and what should happen when an event occurs. A marked floor plan and current operating procedures provide a practical starting point.
