Scope of work.

Maximum demand and protection

Calculate maximum load demand and size circuit breakers. Review overcurrent, earth-fault and earth-leakage protection, discrimination and protection settings for the revised installation.

Switchboards, cables and distribution

Design main switchboards, sub-boards and distribution boards. Size circuit breakers and cables using Ecodial and Vipcoda, then install the power distribution system.

DIALux lighting design

Use manufacturers’ IES photometric files in DIALux to plan the lighting. Set luminaire spacing and mounting height to achieve the intended illuminance in lux.

ELV design and installation

Coordinate extra-low-voltage systems with the electrical alterations, customer specifications and agreed programme.

Information to prepare.

Share what you have. We can identify the remaining information together.

  • Existing and proposed layouts showing the areas and equipment that will change.
  • Electrical drawings, equipment ratings and details of any known capacity issues.
  • The renovation programme and any operations that must continue during the work.

Agree the details before work begins.

Use these points to define the proposal, responsibilities and records your team needs. Final deliverables depend on the agreed scope.

  1. Before work

A record of existing conditions, proposed changes and circuits affected by the work.

  2. During delivery

Work stages, access arrangements and isolation plans for occupied facilities.

  3. At handover

Updated drawings and verification records for the modified installation.

Good questions.
Clear answers.

What does A&A electrical work cover?

A&A means additions and alterations to an existing installation. It can include new or relocated circuits, revised lighting, distribution changes and ELV work needed for a renovation or change of use.

Can existing equipment and cabling be retained?

Retention depends on condition, suitability and the requirements of the revised design. Identify the equipment you want to keep so it can be assessed before the new work is specified.

Does moving equipment require a load review?

The total demand may remain similar, but the receiving circuits and distribution boards can be affected. Equipment ratings, connection details and the revised positions help determine what needs to be reviewed.
